Volunteers build playground for St. John Berchmans school

Parents and Grandparents, members of Barksdale Air Force Base, and students from Loyola College Prep and St. Joseph Catholic Church volunteered their time on Friday to help build two new playgrounds for the students of St. John Berchmans School.

Employees from Planet Recess, a playground company from Baton Rouge, were in Shreveport to supervise the volunteer work. Treynor McAdams of Planet Recess said he's worked with St. John Berchmans in the past.

School Principal Jo Cazes said she was very appreciative of the hard work the volunteers were putting in. Having the volunteers build the playgrounds will save the school between $12 - $15,000. Students from St. John Berchmans and children from Cathedral of St. John Berchmans Parish will get to play on the new structures when they return from Thanksgiving Break.
